Looking forward to a well deserved vacation. What could be more special than your daughters wedding. Excited and can't wait till January. Can't believe I said that. I am not a big fan of winter. Tropical sun here we come!
Fantastic job on organization for this. Glad to get to know Lyara better and her family via info. We couldn't be happier for you both. You chose a great location and of course the weather will be perfect. Love the pics and adventures you both have already been on together. Of course coming into the Bembridge family clan will bring on many more adventures and fun times. ( I mean Greg will be your father-in-law Lyara) what can I say ! Just hope Greg doesn't decide to show Curtis how skinny dipping is done. Words fail me. Your day will be absolutely beautiful no matter what and a memory to cherish. Love you both. uncle Greg and aunt Lynn true northerners!!
Curt usually learns his lesson after skinny dipping on the first night...I believe one is the correct answer.
Hope the weather is great and it can only be a blast on this special occasion.
Your presence is the best gift we can hope to receive :)

Cody and I met the same time Fish and I met. Now we were all introduced. Cody shares the same Bday as me July 29th but is two year non-the-wiser get it. We hung out in college a lot but it really started in 2010 when I was invited to the birthday party mentioned earlier. Since then we have lived together, Gamed countless hours together and still do remotley. We share pictures in coconut bra's with Lyara all the way to Wing Floaties and many with our shirts off in the summer having a good time. No matter how long it goes between seeing each other when we get together its like we never left off. Cody always calls me when he is on long drives to catch up. He is friendly and single and a good guy for all those singles that are coming and thinking about it just saying. Cody will have a smile the whole time guaranteed unless he is hungover which is likely.
Chris is the oldest brother of us three. Chris was always a good guy growing up and making sure he got his brotherly beat downs in when mom and dad where gone - making sure I didn't say a word about anything. All that a side, Chris is an easy going guy, a great dad to his two kids and husband to his wife, Sherry. We all try to get together as much as possible and we also enjoying hunting together every year which is something I always look forward to.
Josh and I also met in college and you would find us hanging out with Cody and Fish. When we could find time, Josh and I would go bird hunting in the afternoons after school and go camping on weekends where we could get away. We have been friends for the better part of a decade and now live near each in Toronto which is great. We now hike and hang out on weekends. We currently have a Catan rivalry (board game) and I am looking to de-thrown him. If you see him, make sure you cheers him!
Megan and I (Lyara) were partner in crimes throughout high school and have been close friends ever since! Our bond will forever be cherished, especially when "watching" horror movies (she is the only person I have ever watched them with!) Megan is by far one of the coolest girls I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She is so fun, has a great sense of humor, and a passion for music. She will always be the one to get me stoked about life, concerts, and anything fun! I adore Megan and am so thankful for her!
I am so honoured that I was able to keep my childhood promise of having you in my wedding! As my youngest cousin, with 8 years difference in our ages, it has been so fun getting to see her grow up over the years. She has huge, caring heart and is so giving of herself and time. She is independent, strong, and beautiful. She is hilarious and such a joy to be around. I adore Courtney and am so thankful for her!
Chantal and I (Lyara) have been super close friends since elementary school in Rockland, ON. Who knew after 16 years we would still be great friends! Especially since we both moved a crazy amount of times! I always have something to laugh about with her; her stories are so funny, and she laughs at the ridiculous things I say! From living down the road from eachother, to our first boyfriends, to us becoming roomates before I moved to Toronto, our bond continues to grow, and I'm excited for what the future holds!
Jasmine and I (Lyara) met through Curtis. She went to college with him up in North Bay. Ever since Curtis and I started dating, I got the priviledge of getting to know Jasmine and growing such a fun freindship, especially when we moved in with her when Curtis and I first moved to Toronto! She is one of those friends that just makes you smile when she is around! She is so funny, outgoing, and is just a genuinely awesome person! We have made so many memories over the past few years, and I know there are many more hilarious memories to come!
My father, Greg was a property manager for a large forestry company in our home town. You can now find him near a body of water up North in the summer slamming wabbly pops and telling stories. He is easy going and you will find him dancing and having a good time at the wedding im sure with his wife Jane.
My Mother, Lois was a PSW for a home in our home town. She will be with us in spirit and with us the whole time. She lives on through her three sons Kevin, Chris and of course myself. She was an amazing person and had a huge heart and would do anything she could for you. There isn't a day that goes by I don't think of her or try and reach her.
Chris - My oldest brother is married to Sherry and they have two kids Sarah and Aidan.
Kevin - Is in the middle of Chris and I. He is married to Amanda and they also have two children Zoe and Payten.
My mom and step - dad are truly amazing people and have taught me so much. I remember all the driving lessions driving around searching for ancestral cemetaries throughout the Ottawa Valley! For some reason I really love that memory - it always makes me smile. My mom and Stephan both always encouraged me to be adventerous, be brave and be proud to be whoever I wanted to be. Traits that truly help define who I am as a person today. Not to mention trusting me and allowing me (at the age of 17) to move to Australia for an entire year by myself and go to high school there on a Rotary Exchange. I don't know if I would be the same person I am today if it wasn't for your support on this! Thank you for everything you have done for me. I love you both so much!
I am so lucky to get two sets of amazing parents! My dad and step-mom are simply awesome and I am so happy to say the more years that pass by the closer we get as a family and there are no words to describe how thankful I am for this! Oh the hilarious memories we have had together! From some of the awesome destination trips, boating, hot tubbing, to the simple competitions of Curt and dad seeing who can drink more and stay up the latest (and then Lisa and I struggling to get both of them to productive the next day) when we visit eachother are things that always put a smile on my face. The fact that you guys helped Curt successsfully pull off the surprise (well for me, anways) proposal down in the Bahamas means more than you will ever know :) Thank you both for being there and supporting me over the years. I love you so much!
My brother Kyle (or in Korea, his name is James) is 15 months younger than me, so it may not come to you as a surprise that we were extremely close, but also fought like cats and dogs sometimes. Every stage of of us growing up we we have always been there for each other. From playing pokemon as children, to being in the same classes in high school to hanging out a close friends throughout our university days - I am so happy to know the older we get, the closer we will be.
I am so excited to have Kyle in our wedding party! He has been living in various cities throughout South Korea for the past 2 years teaching english to the cutest little South Korean children! I haven't physically seen my brother is 2 years and I have been missing him like crazy! We talk a lot online and through face time chats, but he is coming to our wedding and I couldn't be more excited to see him and spend some time with him! Love ya litttle brother!
It all started with me getting relocated for my job and had me moving to Ottawa withing 24 hours notice. I was staying with one of my good friend's from college (Andrew) at the time until I found a place. Little did I know, the birthday party he was inviting me to tag along to would change my future ( for the best I might add!) So, of course when Andrew asked me if I was down for a beach party themed bday - I said hell yea!
Once I showed up, I was definitely happy with my surroundings (considering there were a bunch of women all walking around in bikini tops.) I was like holy crap is this what parties are always like in Ottawa? Yes I also joined them in wearing a bikini top ( slide through the photos on the left).... When in Rome!!!
After that, 4 years of friendship tranformed into something more all because of a "cake handprint" while at a Steve Aoki concert. Lyara and I have been together for almost 3 years now and I haven't been happier. Now our time is spent going on random hikes finding hidden packages placed by others, going on crazy all-inclusive vacations, playing board games, spending as much time with our families as we can and lastly, taking care of our awesome fur family.
How we first met - It was August 1st, 2010 at my 22nd birthday party. My roomates at the time and I decided to throw a luau party where everyone dressed up either in hawaiian shirts of their bathing suits! I was living with two friends: Brittany and Elmira. Brittany's boyfriend (now fiance) mentioned to us that his buddy recently moved from North Bay and that it was also his birthday weekend so he asked if he and some of his buddies could join my festivities. (Curtis' birthday is July 29 and I am August 1.) So Curtis celebrated his first birthday in Ottawa at my party without knowing me (yet). Within minutes, Curtis sees all the girls in their bikini tops and decided he wanted to wear one too. A little surpised with this request (definitely thinking who is this guy?!) I went along with it and let him join in the bikini wearing festivities! Who knew this ridiculously outgoing, fun and loveable guy would stay in my life (as a mutual friend) for the next 4 years.
How we started dating - It was definitely a twist in fate! It was a lot of little things and at the time, I didn't think much of them but looking back at it now. It was so obvious. 4 years later, in 2014, I signed up to play for a summer recreational soft ball league with a bunch of good friends. At the time, I signed up a guy I dated (very briefly) and he jumped the gun and paid his soft ball team deposit. Let's just say it didn't last long and I had to buy him out of the team. I asked our team organizer if he knew anyone that could take this guy's place and within a couple days he found someone (his roomate at the time) who he said was perfect (who knew he was bang on with this comment because it was Curt.) This was nothig crazy at the time - just another friend joining a team - but the more we actually spent time around each other, the more we started talking and really getting to know each other. The main event that sealed the deal with us was accidentally bumping into him at a Steve Aoki concert in Ottawa. This was the event that made us realized we liked eachother more than friends. And the rest is history! On May 14th, we had our very first date - dinner and drinks on the patio after work at the Preston Street Heart and Crown Pub in Ottawa.
Lyara obviously didn't know that I was going to ask her to marry me. She would say that she knew but I don't think she really knew.
I asked her father Vince months previous to make sure I had his blessing. He was quick to say that he and Lyara would be very happy if I were to ask her.
From there it was timing on when and knowing we had a vacation coming up to the Bahamas I thought that would be a perfect place to ask. Christmas Eve we spent the day at Chat 'N' Chill on a near island where we were staying. Cold drinks great company and a very sandy(to be referenced again) Volleyball court. We played a few rounds and toured around the area. The day ended with a beautiful ride back near sunset and once we arrived Vince realised he had forgotten his sandles at the Chat "N" Chill so they wipped back to get them. Before they did Vince looked right at me knowing I was going to ask her and gave me the Thumbs Up while they were pulling away.
On our way back to the Suite I asked Lyara to go out to the point and take some photos with the camera. As we were leaving I said I forgot my phone and had to grab it as well. I had my phone but it gave me time to grab the Bling Bling, she didn't realise it at all. So we go out to the point and I setup the camera and positioned Lyara in the shot. I said maybe you should wipe the sand off your face before we take a photo. she barely wipped her face still sandy. I hit record and got over there and asked her to stand because she was sitting. As she stood I bent down on my knee and started tallking and was abruptly stopped by Lyara's asking What are you doing? What are you doing? What are you doing? by the third time I said please let me talk a minute. I said some things and showed her the ring and slipped in on her finger and boom SHE SAID YES!!!!!
In the photo to the left you see a point of land behind Lyara that's where I asked.]
I grew up in a small town in Northern Ontario (Englehart) where every weekend for us was an adventure. Our parents made sure that we were active outside and always busy. I love hunting, fishing, camping with anyone but my family outings are always epic. I am the youngest of 3 kids and all of us are very close even though we all live far away from each other. I am looking forward to having everyone together for our wedding, this will be the first time the whole family can be together somewhere nice a warm.
I went to school in North Bay and have a diploma in Business Administration. I spent the majority of my twenties up there and then moved to Ottawa in 2010. Since then Lyara and I have moved to Toronto where we are enjoying our time.
I was born in Ottawa, Ontario and lived the majority of my childhood throuhgout the Ottawa area. From grade 9 onwards I lived in a small country town called Kemptville with my mom and step-dad.
I am lucky that I have twice the family most have. My mom, Carol, is a PSW and certified florist. My step-dad, Stephan, is happily living the dream in retirement. My dad, Vince, owns his own restoration company in Kingston and my Step-mom, Lisa, is a Accident Benefits Claims Consultant for a major insurance company. I am the oldest of two and my brother and I are very close! My brother, Kyle and I are only 15 months a part so growing up, we were each other's best friend! We went to the same university together (University if Ottawa) and share a love for travelling, beer and eating a lot - especially Shawarma!
In 2010, after I graduated with a degree in Social Science; Minor in Politcal Science, I went and completed a 2 year diploma in Public Relations with honours. It was around this time frame where I met Curt (but more on that later!) In my free time I enjoy working out early in the morning beforr work, going for hikes, playing board games and spending time with all my fur babies - Boo, Salem and our newsest addition Harlow.
We now have the deposit deadline to reserve your trip - May 29, 2017 is the very last day yopu can pay your 150.00 deposit! After this, you have until November 9th, 2017 to pay the rest of your trip :)
